Most of the time, changing the screen is all you need to be able to use your tablet again, broken screens or display issues being the most common issues on this type of device. By replacing the screen on your own, you will save two to three times the price asked by the manufacturer's Customer service or by a professional tablet repairer. Plus, you are making a gesture for the planet by not planning on throwing away your tablet simply for a broken screen !
Before replacing the LCD Screen of your Galaxy Tab 4, you must turn off your phone for safety reasons.
To do this, press the power button for a few seconds, then click on "turn off".
Insert a nylon spudger in the top left corner of the tablet and pry the first part of the case.
Then lower the spudger all along the left part of the tablet.
Unclip the lower side, then the right side, always using the spudger and always the same way.
Open it progressively, while prying gradually and carefully.
Grasp the rear case and remove it.
The rear case of your Galaxy Tab 4 10.1 is now removed.
Using the nylon spudger, disconnect the battery carefully.
Peel off the top part of the green scotch tape which covers the touch screen cable connector using the tip of the nylon spudger.
Use the spudger again to unlock the touch screen cable connector.
Then remove the cable from its socket.
In order to peel off the touch screen, you must heat it up for 3 to 5 minutes using a hairdryer (red parts on the first picture)
The touch screen is strongly glued to its frame. We suggest that you regularly heat up the glass throughout the steps, for it to be easier.
Be really delicate during the removal, the panel being made of glass and being relatively fragile and sensitive, there is a high risk to break it.
Insert the nylon spudger into the lower left part of the tablet, then slowly slide it to the top, in order to peel off the left part of the glass.
Do the same with the top part of the glass, then with the right part.
Grasp the glass and gently pull on it in order to peel it off.
Then remove it carefully.
If the glass on the top part cannot be detached, heat up this part again for one to two minutes.
The Galaxy Tab 4 touch screen is now removed.
Grasp the home button using tweezers and remove it.
The home button of your Galaxy tab 4 is now removed.
Slide the nylon spudger in the space between the LCD screen and the frame, then pry with extreme caution.
Grasp the screen and rotate it to a 90° angle.
Disconnect the LCD screen connector using the nylon spudger.
The Galaxy Tab 4 LCD screen is now removed.
You can replace it with a new one if needed.
