You're having battery life issues on your iPad 2017 ? If the battery of your iPad does not last the day or if you have overheating issues, it's probably the battery which is defective. Before disassembling the battery of your iPad 5 (2017), you have to turn it off for safety reasons.
Press for a few seconds the power button and slide to power off.
With a hair dryer, heat up the edges of the iPad for 2 to 3 minutes.
Careful to only heat up the edges, not the middle of the screen in order not to damage the LCD.
Once the four sides heated, insert a nylon spudger in the top corner, between the frame and the touch screen and gently pry up.
Gently slide the spudger to the left to remove the top part of the screen.
Now slide it to the left.
Continue to slide the spudger towards the bottom of the iPad.
Repeat the previous step on the bottom part of the iPad screen.
Be gentle during that step, the home button has its cable glued to the screen.
You can now gently lift (from left to right) the touch screen of your iPad.
Don't try removing the touch screen just yet. It is still attached to the logic board by a cable.
Remove the four cruciform screws circled in red securing the LCD to the iPad.
Use the nylon spudger and gently pry up the LCD screen of your iPad.
Don't try removing the LCD off the iPad. It is still attached to the logic board.
Remove the 3 cruciform screws circled in red securing the LCD screen connection cable bracket.
Use the nylon spudger and pry up on the LCd screen cable bracket.
The LCD cable is sticker to this bracket. By prying up, you'll disconnect it automatically from the logic board.
Then you can remove safely the LCD screen off your iPad.
The LCD screen of your iPad 5 (2017) is now disassembled.
The touch screen of your iPad 2017 is attached to the logic board by 3 connectors :
- 2 connectors for the touch screen
- 1 connector for the home button / Touch ID.
With the nylon spudger, start by disconnecting the first and second connector of the touch screen as shown on the pictures.
With the same spudger, remove the adhesive tape covering the home button / Touch ID connector.
Then gently lift the small valve securing the home button cable.
Slide the spudger under the cable to take it off the connector.
The touch screen is now separated from the iPad.
Disconnect the two WiFi antennas from the logic board with the nylon spudger's tip.
Grabt he right WiFi antenna cable and scoot it over to the right.
Then grab the WiFi antenna cable and gently peel it without removing it entirely.
Remove the three screws circled in red with the cruciform screwdriver.
Those screws secure the left WiFi antenna on the iPad.
Slide the nylon spudger under the left WiFi antenna and gently pry up to remove it from the iPad.
The left WiFi antenna of your iPad 2017 is now disassembled.
Peel off the adhesive part covering the left speaker connector with the nylon spudger.
Unlock the left speaker cable connector and remove it with the spudger.
Remove the cruciform screws circled in red that secures the left speaker.
The left speaker of your iPad 2017 is now disassembled.
Remove the adhesive tape covering the right speaker connector with the nylon spudger.
Use a cruciform screwdriver to remove the three screws securing the right WiFi antenna on the iPad.
Grab the right WiFi antenna and remove it.
Remove the three cruciform screws circled in red that secure the dock connector and the right speaker.
Unlock the right speaker cable connector and remove it with the nylon spudger.
The right speaker of your iPad 2017 is now disassembled.
Remove the two cruciform screws on the dock connector as shown on picture 1.
Then remove the three screws circled in red on picture 2. They secure the top cables bracket.
Remove the bracket with a pair of tweezers.
With the nylon spudger's tip, unlock the power/volume buttons cable connector and take the cable off its connector.
Disconnect the back camera with the spudger's flat end.
Unclip the front camera linking cable with the nylon spudger.
Disconnect the jack plug cable and then the microphone cable by gently prying it up with the nylon spudger.
Slide the nylon spudger under the dock connector as show on the picture and gently pry up to remove the dock connector from the rear panel.
Heat up for 10 to 15 seconds the logic board with a hair dryer.
This will soften the adhesive that secure the logic board onto the iPad.
Insert the nylon spudger under the logic board and gently lift to remove it.
Be gentle in order not to damage it.
The logic board of your iPad 2017 is now disassembled.
In order to remove the battery of your iPad, you have to heat up the rear panel of the tablet for 1 to 2 minutes with the hair dryer.
Insert the nylon spudger under the battery by starting with the top right corner.
Then continue toward to the bottom.
Make sure not to bend or drill the battery during that step and the followings !
Then insert the nylon spudger in the central part of the battery and gently try to peel it off.
You might have to heat it up a little bit more if the quantity of glue is more important.
Then grab the battery and remove it.
The battery of your iPad 2017 is now disassembled.
If you have battery life issues, replace it by a new one.
