The first versions of blackberry couldn't make telephone calls, simply allowing the receipt and sending of emails. Blackberry remained the leading brand of smartphones for a long time, notably with professionals. The arrival of the iPhone and numerous other competitors gradually reduced the market interest for Blackberry, however they remain a highly-appreciated brand for professionals. The brand exhibited its drive to innovate with the arrival of the Blackberry Passport in 2014 with a square design for better readability.
